Historic Potter School, used by Hitchcock in “The Birds” is a Sonoma County Historic Landmark. The School was built in 1873 and held classes until fall of 1961. In 1962 Hitchcock used the condemned school as set for his classic thriller, “The Birds”. The Italianate structure sat vacant until 1966, when Taylors’ parents purchased the building to use as a home and art gallery.

Owner and resident Mary Leah Taylor, will host the hour-long tour. The viewing will include the downstairs classroom used in the movie and the upstairs living room once used as the community hall.

Taylor, who has lived in the old school off and on since 1970, will chronicle the history of the school, the filming of “The Birds” and personal experiences of documented paranormal phenomena.

    Greetings!

I am planning a day trip to Bodega Bay as I make my way up to Mendocino for a wedding this summer. I will be in Bodega Bay on Friday June 26th. Bodega Bay has been a destination I have longed to visit for many years after first tang in its beauty throughout the film, The Birds. I would like to know if it is possible to take a tour of the historic school house at this time? I look forward to seeing you soon.

    Best Regards,
    Aja Harbert
