For the past three weeks, 15 crews of electric line workers replaced hardware on more than 100 poles. The work happened in foggy, brisk conditions in rugged terrain overlooking the windy two-lane Highway 1.

Stephen Gross, Guerneville correspondent for the Press Democrat is reporting that the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors 5-to-0 voted in favor of the Evans/Carrillo resolution to ban the beach fee collection system (the “Iron Rangers”) proposed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation.

How would you like to see something like this the next time you take your Kayak out into Bodega Bay? Last Saturday near Avila Beach (San Luis Obispo) A mother and daughter in separate kayaks came dangerously close to a surfacing humpback whale.

If you are in the Bodega Bay area this weekend you may want to check out the Wings Over Wine Country Air Show at the Sonoma County Airport. The airport is about 31 miles (50 minutes) East of Bodega Bay in Santa Rosa.

Peter Fimrite at http://www.sfgate.com is reporting that Oceana, the Center for Biological Diversity and Shark Stewards - have filed a petition with the National Marine Fisheries Service seeking special protection for the genetically distinct Northeastern Pacific population of the toothy predators, which includes sharks that lurk off the coast of San Francisco.

Mama Loves The Beach! blog has posted some photos and videos of dolphins around Doran Beach at Bodega Bay, CA. Darris, the Vegan Mama, writes "Two women vacationing in Bodega Bay pointed out a pod of Bottle nose dolphins that were frolicking and fishing about seventy five yards offshore. The dolphins seemed to be fishing in two groups. I believe there was a total of six dolphins in the pod."
